Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the world’s leading contributor to Type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Its success stems from its unique focus and influence on the global struggle to eradicate T1D. Its mission is to improve lives today and in the future by advancing life-changing innovations in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of Type 1 diabetes and its consequences. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune illness that develops suddenly in children and adults. It is unrelated to diet or lifestyle. Nothing can be done to avoid it, and there is currently no cure.
JDRF was founded by parents who were committed to finding a solution for their children with T1D. Through fundraising and advocacy activities, the organization has grown to become a scientific powerhouse with dozens of locations across the United States and five overseas affiliates.
